STANDOUT SELF-TAPES breaks down into the two key pillars of any great taped audition: Technical Setup & Acting for the Camera

Technical Setup:

To deliver a standout self-tape, you need the right tools. And they don't have to cost a lot! I share all the different setups I've used over the years while also showing you everything from how to install a pro studio in your home to simply using natural light and your phone taped to a stack of books on a table. (remember, no one sees your setup!) We'll cover smartphones, DSLR cameras, tripods, backdrops, lighting from A to Z, and how 99% of my problems are fixed with tape.

Acting for the Camera:

A focus on being specific; specific with your character's circumstances, specific in your relationships with the other characters and location, having specific thoughts and opinions within a scene, and specific about the moment before the scene even starts. Other audition challenges we'll cover are how to deal with an overly physical scene, scenes with multiple characters & eyelines, and finding organic physical business in the white space between the lines.

I've also got lots of tips and tricks to share on finding clues and avoiding "traps" when breaking down the material. By the workshop's end, you'll also be able to identify and execute the different approaches to a co-star, guest-star, film, or series regular audition, and understand how important it is to approach each one within its genre.

We'll also have a detailed Q&A where I'll every question you can think of.

HOW IT WORKS: This class will meet once a week (via Zoom) for three consecutive weeks. All you need to bring is a good internet connection.
